The Brew Bathroom
Client: Greg and Rexanne Brew
Date: August 2023
Awards: Nari Residential Bath under $40,000 Gold Winner
The clients came to us with this laundry and bathroom remodel because the space was very dated, very 80’s feeling with orange paint and an awkwardly large vanity sink. The home is a beautiful craftsman style home in Minnetonka with lots of exposed beams on the interior and redwood siding on the exterior. The clients had the vision nearly complete before we got involved, as they both are designers in other fields. They opted for a wall mounted toilet and vanity making the space feel a bit bigger and also making cleaning a breeze. The grout lines all lined up between the floor and wainscotting for a very clean and modern feel. This of course meant relocating all the existing plumbing and some tight tolerances for framing to allow for a wall mounted toilet. The new tile floor has waterproofing membrane as well just in case of the dreaded leak or overflow should ever happen we know the spaces below are protected.
The tile they chose really sets the tone for the space with all the grout lines in a row with stark white matte wall tile and black floor tile. All the black fixtures and vanity make for a very modern bathroom, while the texture from the wall tile brings an organic and handmade aesthetic, warming the often cold feeling modern spaces can have. We had some challenges getting the accent tile pieces and the existing window to work out just the way we envisioned but we are very happy with the results. We also love the wall mounted toilet and vanity. It creates a spacious feeling and makes cleaning much easier as this functions as the mud room.
