Turn your house into a home.
The Morrisey Home
Client: Ryan and Etina Morrissey
Date: Jan - Mar 2024
The goal of this remodel was to create space. Space for the family to live, learn, breathe and grow up. Also to create space for fun, friendship and connection. For this family this was done in 2 different ways. One was opening and upgrading the kitchen. They disliked the small space and the way the layout of the kitchen caused a separation between those in the living room and kitchen. The other was the addition of a bathroom and office in the basement.
The clients had a 1960’s kitchen that was separated from the living spaces and they love to cook so they needed to open up the main floor so they could be together, doing what they love. The existing kitchen was not only secluded but dated as well. We removed a closet and the wall dividing the dinning, living and kitchen and made them one. We also removed the font entrance they never used to make more space for cabinets and a new mud room at the side door entrance.
The kitchen remodel transformed a dated space into a modern, functional area. It features sleek, custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, and state-of-the-art appliances. The design incorporated a spacious island with seating, and contemporary lighting.
Efficient storage solutions, a new floor, and a fresh color palette enhanced both aesthetics and usability. The result was a bright, inviting kitchen that seamlessly blended style and practicality, meeting all the homeowner's needs and preferences. The mud room cabinets and bench make a space for each of the family to put their shoes and coats, adding just a bit more function to this living space and making MN winters just a bit easier to be prepared for.
Finishing the basement created more space to live and gives each family member more space for themselves. Now with a new bedroom and bathroom in the basement, there is more room for everyone to breathe. Parents have a separate space for themselves, and the kids have more room to play. The addition of the bathroom not only gives everyone more space to get ready but time. Finishing the basement gave us the opportunity to insulate for sound between the floors, the clients have already noted how nice it is to not be awakened by showers or the activity of others in the house.

A word from the client.
“Our home felt really cramped and small. We needed space so that we could entertain and have guests in the kitchen with us, space for our kids, and space for us. We are moving into the basement for our primary giving more space on the main floor for the kids. The basement will also have an office. Most of all, a new bathroom! We are looking forward to living and growing into our new beautiful space! This has been a great experience.”
